Berkhamsted has a wide selection of properties in age, size and location. The market for houses in the town has remained consistently strong due to excellent road and rail links, and the Berkhamsted School and other excellent schools.
Since the opening of the A41 bypass, the town has been rejuvenated. The High Street is now home to many boutique shops and eateries as well as a vibrant Saturday market. Both Tesco and Waitrose supermarkets have outlets in the town.
Our Berkhamsted staff are able to combine an in depth knowledge of the area with considerable experience in the marketing of properties spread across a broad price band. The office regularly deals with properties fetching over £1 million which require a particular approach to marketing with high quality, full colour brochures, floor plans and a breadth of advertising, both local and national on which we are able to advise. |

Living in flourishing Chesham Chesham is a former Market Town located in the Chess Valley, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Chiltern Hill. Chesham has a rich history extending over a thousand years, inhabitants include Celts, Romans and Saxons. The 19th Century industry flourished including the renowned water cress beds and the worlds largest leather works started here in the 1740’s. The River Chess is a chalk-stream which rises from springs, along the Pednor Vale and the Vale, before it becomes a tributary of the River Colne.
Shopping and Leisure Chesham has a pedestrianised High Street and Market Square with a range of comprehensive shops, pubs, cafes as well as Sainsburys and Waitrose. The town is surrounded by open countryside and hilltop villages providing country walks and bridleways. There are two public swimming pools in the town: an open air pool in Waterside, and a roofed pool (and leisure centre) at the top of White Hill. Chesham United FC are a popular non-league side.
Schools Chesham is well served with Primary, Secondary and Independent schools including Chesham Preparatory School, Elmtree First School, Little Springs Primary School, Ley Hill School, Newtown Nursery Infant School. Thomas Harding Junior School (named after the martyr Thomas Harding), Chesham Park Community College and Chesham High Scholl the co-education grammar school. Chesham is also in the catchment area of Dr Challoners boys and girls grammar school’s in Amersham and Little Chalfont respectively.
Transport Links The Metropolitan Line railway station operates to Baker Street. There are also services to Marylebone and Euston from neighbouring towns. Access to the M1, M4, M40 and the national motorway network via Junction 18 of the M25 at Chorleywood or via the A41 at Boxmoor or Berkhamsted joining the M25 at Junction 20.
Property Although many people have never heard of the market town of Chesham in the Chiltern Hills, they have probably seen it on television. It has been the prime location for the ‘Inspector Morse’ series and, more recently, episodes of ‘Midsummer Murders’ were filmed there. It is probably its quaintness that attracts TV directors. The town has appeared on the Halifax’s ‘Hidden Gem’ list of the top ten best-value property locations in the UK. Chesham comprises a mixture of old and new properties from apartments, Victorian, Edwardian terrace and semi-detached cottages to detached family homes and substantial country house.
